The Aboriginal Apprenticeship Board of Ontario is committed to ensuring that the supply of workers is available to meet labour market demands in the trades.

Employer engagement and the placement of Aboriginal workers in apprenticeship and skilled trades positions are of critical importance to the success of theĀ Ontario-based Aboriginal Apprenticeship Strategy. The AABO intends to establish and foster mutually beneficial relationships between ASETS frontline workers and local employers.

Each ASETS employment unit has different programs and services but every apprenticeship coordinator is committed to promoting the skilled trades in their area. Apprenticeship coordinators can assist employers by connecting them with Aboriginal journeypersons, apprentices, and people who are pursuing apprenticeships. ASETS agreement holders can also provide assistance to employers in the form of wage subsidies while assisting apprentices with funds for training, equipment and mobility when funds and programming are available.
